Cooking is one of the basic human activities, and it is also one of the things that make us different from other beings that live on this planet. We cook our food, and this is also how we learned to prepare different dishes from the same ingredients, because we find pleasure in the food’s taste and we feel the need for variety. Gourmet cooking represents a more specialized or unique way of cooking a normal dish, and in what follows we want to prove that anyone can cook with gourmet recipes.
For today we have chosen two gourmet recipes, and we recommend you try them with your family one evening. First, we turn our attention towards a fish recipe, namely a baked Dijon salmon recipe, perfect for a light lunch or dinner and full of flavors and aromas. The recipe takes 20 minutes to prepare and 15 to cook, so in about 35 minutes the meal should be ready. Here are the ingredients you need:
- 4 salmon fillets
- 3 tablespoons of Dijon
- 1/4 cup of melted butter
- 1/4 cup of dry bread crumbs
- 1/4 chopped pecans
- 1 and a half tbsp. honey
- 4 tsp. chopped fresh parsley
- 1 lemon
- salt and pepper
Before you start preparing the salmon, preheat the oven at 200 degrees Celsius; take a bowl and pour in it the mustard, butter and honey, mixing them well. Put this aside and take another bowl, where you mix the pecans, bread crumbs and parsley. Take your pieces of salmon and brush them with the first honey mixture, then sprinkle them with the bread crumb mix. Now your salmon is ready to get into the oven, where it should be ready in about 15 to 20 minutes. As you can see, gourmet recipes can even be easier than other regular recipes, because they manage to create something spectacular with few ingredients, but which are surprisingly combined.
Our next recipe would go well as garnish with the salmon if you like, next to a salad, or even on its own. It is a recipe of garlic red potatoes. It is very easy to prepare, and it looks and tastes great; this garlic red potatoes recipe takes only ten minutes to prepare and forty more in the oven. Here are the ingredients:
- 2 pounds of potatoes
- 2 tsp. minced garlic
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 juiced lemon
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1 tbsp. grated Parmesan
Wash the potatoes and cut them in quarters; preheat your oven at 175 degrees Celsius and place the potatoes in a large baking dish, so that all of them touch the base. Take a small bowl, and in it mix the butter, garlic, lemon juice and salt; pour this mixture over the potatoes and mix well, so they are covered all over. Finally, sprinkle your Parmesan cheese and cover the dish before you put it in the oven. Cook it like this for 30 minutes, then remove the cover and bake for ten minutes more. When the potatoes are golden, the dish is ready and you can take it out.
