The importance of the crown jewels is not given by the value of the precious gems but by the spiritual meaning of the coronation objects. Most objects are rather modern since the old ones were destroyed during the 16th century as part of the abolition of monarchy. The only remaining item from the original collection is the Anointing Spoon.
