There are some popular traditional Christmas and winter holiday drinks such as eggnog and mulled wine that are usually served throughout the season. However, over the last few years people have gotten creative and added some Christmas twists to traditional drinks, or simply created a Christmas-themed cocktail from scratch. Below are the 5 most creative Christmas drinks for all tastes:
1. Vanilla Eggnog
Eggnog is a traditional Christmas drink served from Halloween to New Years in both non-alcoholic and alcoholic forms. It is better to serve this drink at parties rather than lunch or dinner, because it is very filling. Before you make it, refrigerate all liquids. Beat 6 eggs and add 1 cup of sugar, 2 teaspoon of vanilla extract and nutmeg. After the mix blends add 3/4 cup brandy, 1/3 cup dark rum and 2 cups of milk and whipping cream (each). Sprinkle each serving with nutmeg. For the non-alcoholic version, leave out the brandy and rum.
2. Chocolate Raspberry Martini
The Chocolate Raspberry Martini is one of the most elegant and delicious Christmas drinks. Although it looks like a simple martini, the secret is to garnish it. Pour 1 ounce white creme de cacao with 1/2 ounce raspberry vodka into a chilled martini glass without shaking it. Add a few raspberries and sprinkle cocoa powder across the surface. You can also add a chocolate kiss or two.
3. Santa Shot
To create this incredible Christmas drink you must layer 1 part grenadine, 1 part creme de menthe and 1 part peppermint schnapps in a shot glass. The result is a little green and red layered drink that tastes like candy cane and inspires the Christmas spirit. You can serve these cocktails as an aperitif and pour them in advance, especially if you don’t manage well under pressure.
4. Red Hot Santa Tini
The Red Hot Santa Tini is not a typical Christmas drink. If you never thought about mixing hot pepper and chocolate together, you will find out that is tastes amazing. Start by mixing a pinch of cayenne pepper with cocoa powder. Rim a martini glass with it or any other glass you prefer. Shake 2 ounces Godiva chocolate liqueur with 2 ounces chili-infused vodka and pour it into the glass. Add sweetened whipping cream and garnish it with one small Thai chili pepper .
5. Candy Cane Swirl
The Candy Cane Swirl cocktail is a great holiday dessert drink that blends berry vodka with peppermint schnapps and white creme de cacao. Pour 3/4 ounce white creme de cacao, 3/4 ounce berry vodka, 3/4 ounce peppermint schnapps and ice in a cocktail shake.
