A capitalist society is the type of society that most of the people live in, especially in the Western part of the world; it is based on privately owned assets and businesses, and defined by the fact that it is the consumer who decides what products he/she needs.
An industrial society is how our society could have been defined up until a few decades ago, when information and its exchange started to gain more momentum and importance; however, industry is still the main basis of our world, and it ensures the survival of an increased population.
During the Middle Ages, the majority of the population was part of an agrarian society, so those who owned the land were actually the ones to become wealthy, whereas the peasants working the land barely got enough to survive.
Unless you’re an anthropologist or historian, giving an objective and comprehensive definition of society is impossible, because the truth is each of us have an idea of what society should be like; and this is where most our conflicts stem from, from the belief that we and we alone have the correct answer.
Women education hasn’t always been society’s preoccupation because society expected women to learn the basics of general knowledge, good manners and cooking and then go on to becoming good wives and mothers.
The International Womens Day is still very important around the world even if it is over 100 years old and even if its original meaning was lost; whereas then it fought for women’s rights to equality and vote, today we can still use it to show our love and respect for the women in our lives.
