The Cosmopolitan drink is one of the most popular cocktails in the world. It is believed that this drink was created in the 80s on the West Coast of America. However, once the recipe was brought to New York in the 90s its popularity increased dramatically. A lot of people claim to have invented the drink but Cheryl Cook has the most plausible story. She claims to have invented the cocktail by using the Absolut Citron vodka. She added a splash of triple sec, a dash of Rose’s lime and a little cranberry in order to pink it up. Later on, the drink traveled to Manhattan where it was upgraded by Toby Cecchini who replaced the Rose’s lime with fresh lime juice. Well, no matter who created the drink, one thing is for sure: it was Carrie Bradshaw from the popular Sex and the City series, who made the drink popular across the globe.

You shake the ingredients with ice and then you strain them into a chilled glass. Decorate with orange bitters or orange peel. This is the classic Cosmopolitan recipe but you can also try out some variations.
